Founded in 1988 to promote organic practices and quality coffee, the Mejillones Cooperative has grown from 20 to 85 farmers. The Fair Trade premiums have allowed these farmers to maintain their own dry processing plant, giving them greater autonomy and enhanced quality control. Fair Trade premiums have also supported organic growing methods and training in composting and soil management.
